Art Aurum stories

Art Aurum experts have published a new material in which they talk about the authors whose work they recommend paying attention to in February of this year. In recent weeks, their work has appeared frequently at exhibitions and auctions. Topping the list is 32-year-old artist Delia Hamer, who lives and works in Amsterdam. Her works, which often feature stylized female figures against the backdrop of surreal landscapes, are filled with deep symbolism. The artist’s personal exhibition is being held at the French site of the Maāt gallery until February 25.

Born in 1988, Japanese-born artist Alexa Hatanaka lives and works in Toronto. Last year, she completed an internship at a paper mill in Japan's Kochi Prefecture, where she studied ancient papermaking traditions. Now a new series of her works is presented in a solo exhibition at Montreal's Patel Brown Gallery. Linocuts on handmade paper, sewn together like fragments of a patchwork quilt, resemble delicate tapestries.

The top 3 authors mentioned in the material also included American artist Molly Metz (b. 1992) from Philadelphia. Her inspiration for creating abstract paintings, wall sculptures, and ceramic vessels came from natural forms. In the artist's intricate lines it is easy to see echoes of intertwined roots, streams or branching nerve cells. She currently has a solo exhibition at Fleisher/Ollman Gallery in Philadelphia.
